Participation in band rehearsals - 5pts./rehearsal

                This includes attitude, cooperation, behavior and preparedness.

Band lessons - 10 pts./lesson

Playing tests - 100 pts./test

There will be two tests per semester over selected major scales, chromatic scales, band music and selected lesson material.

Attendance at required performances - 100 pts./event

Extra Credit practice points - 10 pts./hour

Extra-credit points may be earned through practice hours at home or at school.  This is a good way to protect your grade from an unexpected absence.  Record the time on a practice card, get a parent signature for home practicing and turn it in at the end of each quarter.  Two hours of weekly practice is recommended.  A maximum of 180 points may be earned.  Extra credit points may also be earned through participation in additional events throughout the school such as Honor Bands.

Grades will then be determined by a percentage of the total points possible.  The following scale will be used:

100% and above  = A+

90-100%  = A

80-89%  = B

70-79% =  C

60-69% =  D

Below 60%  = F

On the days you forget to bring your instrument or music, you will not receive rehearsal points or lesson points, and have an after school detention.

If your instrument is in the repair shop, bring a note from home to avoid missing rehearsal points.

If you are sick or out of school, classroom work does not need to be made-up, but missed band lessons need to be made-up.
